Canada wraps up its final pre-tournament game as part of the RBC Road to the World Juniors this evening when they face Switzerland from the Bell Centre in Montreal. Fucale and Eric Comrie split crease duties in the teams first two pre-tournament games; Fucale getting the nod Friday night against Russia and Comrie in goal for Sundays game against Sweden. Canada dropped Fridays opener with a 2-1 overtime loss. They kept Russian goalie Ilya Sorokin busy with 53 shots, while Fucale had to make just 18 saves. Alexander Sharov scored 3:41 into overtime to give Russia the victory. The Canadian squad next faced Sweden Sunday in Ottawa, where they walked away with a 5-2 victory. It marked Canadas first game since finalizing its roster and also marked Connor McDavids first action since suffering a broken bone in his right hand on Nov. 11. This game will also mark 19-year-old Curtis Lazars debut as captain of Team Canada. Lazar was awarded the C on Monday, while fellow returnees from the 2013-14 tournament Sam Reinhart and McDavid were named alternates. Max Domi leads all Canadians in pre-tournament scoring with one goal and two assists through two games. The 12th-overall pick of the Arizona Coyotes in 2013, Domi had 17 goals and 51 assists in 27 games with the OHLs London Knights before answering the call for Canada. Switzerland boasts players that were selected early in the 2013 and 2014 NHL Drafts, including 2014 11th overall pick in Nashville Predators prospect Kevin Fiala. The forward scored at a point-per-game pace as a 17-year-old at last years world juniors. The Swiss also have defenceman Mirco Mueller of the San Jose Sharks. Mueller is playing in his third world junior championship and has three points in the NHL this season. He was picked by the Sharks 18th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft and made the NHL team this year, appearing in 24 games and registering one goal and two assists. Defencemen Jonas Siegenthaler will also don the Swiss colours; a player ranked 71st in Craig Buttons November Craigs List rankings. Also on the Swiss roster is Halifax Moosehead forward Timo Meier, who ranks 80th on Craigs List. Switzerland was defeated 3-2 by Slovakia in their first pre-tournament game on Sunday, but outshot their opponents 31-27.
